moving on
Since our closing announcement, I have been asked by many of you for recommendations for other stores like No Sugar Added. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend any local stores for ethical reasons (I will not elaborate). However, I can recommend a resource in California that, although far, will give you superb service backed with ethics and education.
breast cancer awareness
October is breast cancer awareness month, and while I applaud the many good people who rally behind this effort, I often wish the word “education” could replace “awareness.” After all, aren’t we all aware of breast cancer, nay – all types of cancer? Don’t we all have a story of a dear friend or loved one leaving us all too soon because of this dreaded disease? The fact is, there is abundant research regarding cancer prevention that hasn’t been widely covered by mainstream media. Read More…
the breastfeeding doll

So I haven’t commented much about this doll (even though it’s been in the news feed for over two years now), but now I feel the need to put my opinion out there. This doll is getting so much bad press and I just don’t understand why. Any thinking person can understand that this doll is no different than a doll that your child would pretend to bottle feed. Why is the breastfeeding doll so offensive? Role play is a very important part of childhood. Hopefully our daughters will someday breastfeed their children, should they choose to conceive. Is practicing the act of naturally feeding a baby really horrible?! Does anyone have a concise argument as to why this would be an immoral or unethical toy for a child to own? I just don’t see it…

the passive-agressive blog post
I am terribly passive-aggressive…aren’t most women?! In some ways, this is a survival instinct. However, I think everyone should have their own blog so that they can get their feelings out in a post such as this one. So here I go: Read More…
coming soon…
We just got back from the ASTRA toy show in Long Beach, and if there’s one thing I know about myself…it’s that I LOVE TOYS!!! Sorry for shouting. I wish I could purchase every single toy. Or at least the cool ones. However, being the killjoy I am, I have to ask very important questions such as, “Where was this manufactured?”, “What processes did you use to secure those pieces together?”, and “What the heck is that?!” Just kidding on that last one. But I thought it. A lot! Anyway, just thought you might like to see what products I did decide on – so you can get excited and stalk our Facebook for updates on their arrival. Because you have nothing better to do, am I right? Enjoy!

non-violent parenting
For the past four Thursday evenings I have been blessed to be involved in a series of parenting education classes taught by a representative from Echo Parenting & Education. I have been so inspired by my classes that I thought I would share a little bit about what I have learned so far. If you ever have an opportunity to take one of these classes, I would highly recommend them – your kids will thank you! Read More…
snaps vs hook and loop…who wins?

I get this question almost daily…”So which is better? Snaps or hook and loop closures?” Just like everything else in the cloth diapering world, there is really no clear cut answer – which is why both exist and thrive! What I can do for you is break down the pros and cons of each and hopefully make your choice a little bit easier. From my own experience, we’ve had a good mix of both. I’ve probably only purchased two dozen fancy diapers for two children. Now that my youngest is day time potty trained, I’m reaching mostly for snaps when they’re clean. Why? Because all the hook and loop closure diapers have sort of lost their stick! Below is a concise pro/con list for your perusal… Read More…
